Transforming Legacy CNC Systems for Egyptian Railways: A National Modernization Milestone
In a major leap forward for Egypt’s railway infrastructure, our company partnered with the Egyptian Railway and Metro Authority in 2012 to modernize 12 aging vertical CNC turning machines—key assets used in resizing railway car wheels with extreme precision. These RQ and RMQ models had grown outdated, risking delays and inefficiencies across the network. We provided a full-spectrum engineering solution: complete retrofit design, installation of new CNC controllers, control cabinets, spindle motors, and servo drives—featuring high-performance components from Fagor Automation, a global leader in motion control systems. Our team also developed custom control software and G-code programs tailored to the client’s exact machining requirements. What set this project apart was not only the technical excellence but also the deep commitment to our client’s long-term success. Our engineers trained the Egyptian Railway’s operators and maintenance teams extensively, empowering them to operate and troubleshoot the new systems confidently. The three-year project was followed by a comprehensive two-year warranty and routine maintenance visits—securing machine uptime and production consistency.
This project stands as a flagship example of how innovative retrofitting can breathe new life into critical infrastructure—combining world-class technology with local engineering expertise to drive national progress.
